Guidelines for Halloween Office Party Costumes

A Halloween witch at a work party

Halloween office parties are great ways to get everyone revved up for the holiday, but they are also a source of many a faux pas committed by over-eager employees.  Here are a couple of guidelines to use when choosing your costume for a Halloween office party.

  1. Sexy is a big no-no.  Sexy costumes have no place at a work party, so save the naught schoolgirl, naughty nurse, or naughty maid costumes for a Halloween party — or a private party for a special someone.  Even a Wonder Woman costume might be a little too risque, depending on how revealing it is.
  2. Don’t come underdressed.  Even if you are not crazy about dressing up, if everyone else will be wearing Halloween costumes, you don’t want to stand out as a party pooper, do you?  Especially since this is a work party, and it could reflect on your willingness to contribute to team projects at work.  If you really don’t want to dress up, do something fun like a black hooded sweatshirt and a Scream or Jason mask.  That ought to satisfy everyone, and even better yet, maybe make it look like you have a sense of humor about it!

Holidays and holiday parties are part of what make work bearable for at least part of the year, so be sure to play nicely with others this Halloween!
