My kid brother was always a really great artist and he was always really good with computers so it was natural for people to constantly be telling him that he should consider going to a computer graphic design program when it was time for him to go to college. Although he looked into Collins graphic design school and a few other colleges like it, he ultimately decided not to pursue graphic design.

The reason for this was because he didn’t want to be locked into a career as a graphic designer. Ah, the things that we think when we are just out of high school. Now that he knows more about what a graphic design degree can allow you to do, he wishes that this was the route that he had taken with his education after all.

He didn’t realize at the time that a graphic designer doesn’t only do graphic design. He wasn’t aware that there are multiple aspects of web design that you can do with a graphic design degree. He also had no clue that graphic designers work on product design, advertisements and marketing and even work as art directors for some pretty awesome publications. He’s landed a few good jobs doing things like that anyway but he now sees it would have been a lot easier with the right degree!
