Quality Health Care Provided by Generous School

Just as I was about to complain about how not enough worthwhile projects get funded here in central Arizona, I have to come across this. The Arizona Area Health Education Centers recently awarded funding to A.T. Still University’s School of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona for two upcoming projects.
Twenty-five thousand dollars will go to fund the American Indian Rural Service Training and Northern Arizona Rural Service Training Projects, while $75,000 will go to fund the Arizona Rural and Undeserved Health Workforce Training Project.
Both of these projects are meant to provide quality health care to people living in impoverished areas of the state, and also to teach students of the Arizona School of Health Sciences programs with a direct hands-on approach to healing. Students are also expected to undergo training in cross-cultural communication and cultural competency.
I applaud the Arizona School of Health Sciences for taking such an active role in their community, putting charitable action above monetary gain. For those unfamiliar with the school, ASHS is a respected provider of health science education, offering online degrees in an occupational therapy program, a physician assistant program, and a Doctor of Health Sciences program among others.
For a more detailed explanation of the proposed projects, please read the official press release.
