Closing the School Up for Holidays

One of the things that I love about my lifestyle is that there is a lot of freedom and flexibility to my life.  Working on my own has given me the opportunity to make as much money as I want to, and at the same time, if I need some time off, I can talk to the “boss” (myself) and get the time off that I need.

Today was a good example.  A good friend of mine is currently the director of the culinary school in town.  She has been there for just about ten years now, and has moved up from the original position that she held there as instructor.

Over the Christmas break they close the school down for a couple of weeks to give the instructors and students a break.  Usually the director is in charge of closing up the school for the holidays, but Alice and her family had planned to take a much needed vacation over the break.

So, she asked me if I could close up the school for her.  I couldn’t refuse as she has done favors for me in the past, and truth be told, I don’t mind helping.

But I have to say that seeing the school devoid of people was kind of eerie.  I guess without students and instructors, culinary arts institutes would just be empty buildings, right?http://www.thefreedictionary.com/devoid
