Heaven and Earth

One of my favorite movies in high school was Heaven and Earth, a tragic story of a Vietnam woman’s experiences during the Vietnam War.  The movie was directed by Oliver Stone, and the soundtrack was composed by Kitaro, one of my favorite new age artists.

One thing puzzled me, though.  Toward the end of the movie, when Le Ly returned with her children to Vietnam, she introduced her first son to his father — an older Vietnamese man that she had had an affair with when she was working in his household as a young woman.  Although the old man was fairly short, his son was very tall — taller than him by a couple of feet!

I asked my mom what would have caused this height increase, and she said that it was probably the abundance of food and good nutrition in the United States, where the boy lived during his formative years.  (Of course, at the time it never occurred to me that it could have simply been because the actor that won the part was tall.  Teenagers are so literal!)

In any case, though, I think it’s been proven that good nutrition and good food can increase height.  The only question left — since I’m kind of a shorty — is what food should I eat to grow taller?
