My husband and I have a home security system…  But it’s not the kind you’d think.  Nope, no ADT or anything like that.  Why bother when you’ve got 150 pounds of fur and teeth?

In case you haven’t already figured out, we have dogs.  Two dogs.  Big dogs.  One of whom is extremely protective of her home — not to mention extremely scary-looking when she gets going.  She is an American white shepherd, and when she bares her teeth she looks very wolf-like!  I’ve scared off many a solicitor with this dog!

Seriously, though, we’re pretty sure no one will ever try to break into our house with these dogs around — and if they don’t, they certainly won’t get far!  But if it weren’t for our canine security system, we probably would have looked into ADT in Las Vegas ages ago.

Not long after we bought our house three years ago, there was a serious of burglaries, all right in a few block radius of us.  It was several young guys who were stealing electronics, money, jewelry — basically anything they could turn into fast cash.  They were also deliberate choosing homes without dogs.  The police thought they were probably looking for money to buy their drugs.  In any case, I don’t think the case was ever solved, but it sure made us glad we had our canine security system in place!
