Dental Phobia

They call it Dental Phobia. Quite frankly, they need a better name. Arachibutyrophobia is fear of peanut butter sticking to the roof of your mouth. Paraskavedekatriaphobia is the fear of Friday the 13th. And Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia is the fear of long words.

Seriously – the fear of long words. The name of the fear of long words in one of the longest words in the English language. I want you to think about that for a minute.

Okay, done? That word was probably invented by the guy who though it would be a good idea to put an “s” in the word “lisp.”

But whatever. Give it a better name. Preferably a name that makes it seem like not a big deal. The dentist isn’t really something to be afraid of. I went to get some Washington DC dental restorations at a specialist in Washington DC cosmetic dentistry, and he did a fine job. No pain, no aches. Seriously, I don’t know what it is about a dentist Washington DC that strikes that much fear in people. Oh no, they are scratching your teeth? Say it isn’t so, jack. Say it isn’t so!
Maybe the name of it should be “Thishasbeendoneforhundredsofyearsgetoveritophobia.”
