Hearing aid head scratching

I tend to review a lot of technology related devices. Mostly they computer related, mobile hand held devices and a decent amount of home electronics. The really cool thing is that every now and then part of the compensation is getting to actually keep the test subject.

While I’ve not always wanted to own everything I test, there was one assignment that had me scratching my head from the time I opened the shipment.

Inside the box was a hearing aid. In and of itself, I suppose there was nothing wrong with the device. Taking it out of the box, I checked out and admired its size. I found it very hard to believe something so small could provide so much sound to those that experienced some sort of hearing deficiency.

The company provided extra batteries to ensure the testing went well and was not compromised as a result of having the batteries drain mid way through.

There was also a very handsome storage case that actually looked more like a jewelry type of box to be proudly displayed on my dresser than the box of a hearing aid. They also very thoughtfully included a travel case for when you were away from home.

The one thing they didn’t include was a test subject that was hard of hearing! As far as I know I have quite adequate hearing capabilities. I did make sure I mentioned this to them when I returned the hearing aid device.
