I’m a Nervous Wreck

I’m getting very concerned about my son lately-well, more than usual. He just got promoted to “Quality Assurance Director” of his company, which is great, but this means he has to do a lot more traveling. Now granted, I’ve always had an “irrational” fear of flying (if I was meant to fly, God would have given me wings), but surely it’s not the best idea to travel all over the country by plane everyday.
I’m not just saying this as a paranoid mother, planes do crash sometimes. I just wish he would consider other methods of travel, or at least think of his family and invest in life insurance if-God forbid-something terrible did actually happen to him.
Of course, he won’t hear any of it. “It’s 2009,” he tells me. “I’m more likely to get struck by lightning,” he tells me. Well, I tell you, a plane crash will never happen to someone until that one time it actually does.
Young people still think they’re invincible, even with wars raging everywhere and criminals on the street. If any of you reading out there have a nervous mother, please do me a favor and at least consider getting life insurance or even term life insurance.

My mother works in an Emergency Room, so trust me, I understand where you’re coming from. Every time I drop off radar for more than a day, she’s calling me and if I don’t pick up, starts calling hospitals and credit card companies (to see if I’ve used my cards). Yeah.

You are being a BIT of a nervous nelly, but I think it’s perfectly reasonable to counsel your son to get life insurance, even if he drives to work everyday and that’s it. If he’s got a family, it’s a no brainer. Simple as that.

Does he drive to work? He’s more likely to get hit by a car and killed than he is to die in a plane crash. You can’t prevent bad things from happening, but you can help to live a good, full life and fulfill your earthly purpose before you pass.

You’re way over the top. Nervous mothers are one thing, but haven’t you heard of self manifesting? If you tell him enough times that he’s going to die in a plane crash, he really will. Ease up and get in tune with the universe.

I don’t think you’re being overprotective at all. Any breadwinner with a family should have life insurance, because you don’t want something to happen to you ever! Your family will be left with nothing and you will be kicking yourself from beyond the grave.
