Positive health effects of owning dogs

It has been widely debated that pet ownership has been associated with conferring positive health effects on the owners of the animals. Clearly, this depends a lot on the general nature of the dog. Take for instance a Rhodesian Ridgeback. Even though they end up being quite large dogs, up to 90 pounds for full grown adult males, with proper training, they are lovable.
The Ridgeback make for wonderful family pets as they are very pack oriented and will do pretty much anything to be around others, including large pets and family’s with children. They are in need of quality training, including regular reinforcements. Without being properly trained as puppies, you might find them becoming rather destructive.
Towards the other end of the size spectrum, the Pembroke Welsh Corgi is quite the joyous small dog. While the male normally grows to around 25 pounds, they may sometimes be as stout as 30 or so pounds. The Corgi was a favorite of Queen Elizabeth II, and is well known for its energetic and frolicky attitude.
It’s this zest for life that makes the Corgi transfer such warm and healthy attitudes onto its owner. When you’re surrounded by fun and love of a favorite pet, you tend to smile more, breathe deeper and generally think pleasant thoughts; all symptoms of good health.
