My Second Online Writers Conference

I just signed up for the 2008 Muse Online Writers Conference.  It’ll be the second year I’ve "attended" — I participated last year, too, which I think was the first year it was ever done.

It’s a pretty unique idea, holding a conference online, but I thought it worked out great!  I participated in quite a bit last year — I usually had one or two online chats to attend every day, and even more week-long workshops.  It was probably a bit too much, as I ended up feeling rather overwhelmed, but I did enjoy it quite a bit.

I know some people probably wouldn’t like the online format, but I’m a big fan of doing almost everything online.  I’ve been shopping online for nearly a decade, not to mention I took a lot of my classes online in college.  And when (not if) I go back to school for my master’s degree, it’ll be one of several online degree programs that I choose to pursue.  Yep, I’m a big fan of online education — I had a friend who attended a visual communications degree program, and loved every minute of it.

I guess it shouldn’t come as any surprise that I even work online, as a freelance writer.  I’ve had the occasional client who wants to talk via phone, but I’m shying away from even that more.  The Internet is the way of the future, particularly with gas prices skyrocketing — it’s not long before the majority of the population telecommutes via the Internet, I’m sure!
