It is amazing the types of businesses that exist in today’s age.  If you stop for a moment and think, there are many businesses that exist today that had no reason to exist just a century ago.

For example, think about any computer related business   in 1909, there was no such thing as a computer.  The concept was still decades away.  Automobiles were still a luxury as opposed to a necessity.  Take a computer geek and drop him in 1909 and he would probably have a mental blue screen.

A search engine optimization company is something that a person would not have even conceived of 20 years ago, much less 100.  It wasn’t until the 1990’s that there was really even a need for a search engine.  If someone tried to sell someone an SEO package back then, first they would ask what the heck SEO was, and then they would laugh because there were maybe 100 to 200 websites on the internet.  Now you can probably find that many websites about Paris Hilton. 

Look at the cell phone.  That technology did not exist 100 years ago.  In fact, it did not even exist 50 years ago.  When Captain Kirk talked on his communicator on Star Trek, it was considered science fiction.  Now, almost everyone has their own communicator.  Of course, Captain Kirk couldn’t surf the web.

Technology and business has come a long way in 100 years.  I wonder where we will go in the next 100.
