Sleep Problems and Your Relationship

Sleep problems can cause a significant amount of stress on a relationship. You may find yourself waking each other up at night which can be an annoying strain on a couple over the long term. You may feel tired during the day which can cause fights to happen more easily. And you may find that the solutions to your sleep problems are awkward parts of the relationship.
For example, let’s say that you have sleep apnea. If you don’t treat it, you’ll be tired during the day and fight with your spouse. But to treat it, you need to use CPAP supplies like a sleep apnea mask or a bipap machine. Putting these things on in the bedroom is not exactly conducive to romance. A lack of romance in the bedroom obviously isn’t good for the relationship.
The first thing you need to do is be willing to discuss and deal with the sleep problems that you and / or your partner have. The next thing is to find a way to treat the problem without further compromising the relationship. For example, try to have more romantic encounters during the day and outside of the bedroom to make up for the presence of the sleep apnea machine in your room at night.
