Nanny Cams and Paranoia

My husband asked me last night if he thinks that the family I babysit for most weekends has a nanny cam. I told him no, I don’t think so — I’ve thought about it before, but I’ve always come to the conclusion that if they did, I probably would have heard about it by now.
It’s not that I do anything wrong when I am babysitting. Frankly, I know I am darn good with kids. I don’t just not abuse them — I also enjoy spending time with them, playing with them, teaching them, etc. I am very involved and I don’t think there is anything that the family I babysit for could complain about there.
However, I have had some conversations on my cell phone after the kids are asleep that I think would have come back to bite me in the butt if they were watching me via hidden camera. I love the family, but sometimes the parents do things with their kids that really drive me nuts, and I’ve discussed those kinds of things with my husband via cell phone before thinking about whether I’m being spied on.
When it comes down, though, I just don’t think they are the type of people to spy on their babysitters and nannies with a spycam. They’re nothing like the kinds of people portrayed in The Nanny Diaries – and yes, I have worked for people like that in real life!
