Our First Anniversary

For me and my husband’s first anniversary, we went to a little local hot springs resort here in Colorado. It wasn’t fancy, and it wasn’t exotic like a Fiji spa, but it was what we could afford at the time, and we enjoyed it.
The resort we stayed at is in a quaint little town in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. We stayed the night, relaxed in the hot springs, spent some time shopping in the little old shops in town, and ate lots of good food. We only stayed a night, but on the way home we took a detour to visit Mount Evans. It was gorgeous but I found the steep drops off the shoulder of the narrow road to be rather nerve-wracking.
In any case, it was a fun first anniversary. It was also the only time we’ve gone away to celebrate it, but I don’t mind. We can save the exotic trips for later on in our lives, when we have more money — and most likely, when we need the vacations more. Right now, there’s not that much of a reason to get away, as there is nothing really to get away FROM!
