If I’m going to stay with friends and I have my dogs along, I always make sure it’s okay with my hosts. I think that’s just basic consideration, you know?

Fortunately for dog lovers, more and more places will take your dog. I think a lot of places will do anything to accommodate guests to be sure they’re full up.

I usually take my Rottweiler with me when I travel, but most hotels don’t want a Rottie, so I usually stay at ground-floor rooms and sneak him in when nobody’s around. He’s well-behaved, so it’s not usually a problem. Of course, if something startles him, his bark is really loud.

When I can, I take my dogs with me on trips. When I can’t, I leave them at home with a dog sitter. It’s best to leave them in a familiar place with the other dogs and cats.

I like taking my dog along on trips. He’s good company. But, like this blogger, I always plan ahead by finding dog-friendly hotels.
